Phone and Device-Free Schools

Phone and Device-Free Schools over students laughing and engaging with each other.

As we conclude the first year of the SCUSD Mobile Communications Device policy implementation, we are asking for feedback from our school community. We encourage families, students, and staff to share their experience with the Yondr lockable pouch system.

All responses are confidential and will be used to guide our decision-making for the upcoming school year. Please use the link below to fill out the survey. The survey will remain open until midnight on May 21, 2026.

To foster the learning environments we desire and promote healthy social and emotional development, and respond to the new Phone-Free Schools Act, District leadership recommended to the Board of Trustees to implement a Phone and Device-Free Schools policy for all elementary, middle, and high school students.

In the tabs below we explain Why and How we implement Phone and Device-Free Schools, and provide Additional Resources for our community on this update to our mobile devices policy for schools.
